Stephen Hussey conducted the recording session, edited the orchestral score and added additional orchestration for Nitin Sawhney’s music score for the film adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s acclaimed book Midnight’s Children. Live Music Score For A Throw of Dice

This week, Stephen Hussey will be conducting the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in a live orchestral performance of Nitin Sawhney's recently commissioned score for Franz Osten's 1929 silent Indian film A Throw of Dice. Stephen also helped Nitin with additional orchestration and score editing, as well as conducting the Orchestra for the original recording sessions for the film soundtrack.

Having already performed all over the world including in the USA, Singapore, and Australia, the 16th international show of A Throw of Dice will be on October 11th in Oslo. More information about the Oslo show here.

Stephen Hussey conducted the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) during recording sessions for Nitin Sawhney's new score for Alfred Hitchcock’s restored 1927 silent film The Lodger, as well as assisting with additional orchestration and score editing. The film, part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and starring Ivor Novello, was restored by the BFI National Archive and shown to a sold out crowd at the Barbican in July conducted by Nitin Sawhney featuring the LSO and Stephen performing on piano. Stephen Hussey is featured as Concert Maestro in the Il Divo Christmas Tour Programme 2010.

"Stephen Hussey has trained as a violinist, orchestrator and arranger at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Stephen's conducting highlights include the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, 2007 and the London Symphony Orchestra in Trafalgar Square, 2008. He has conducted many international orchestras including the Toronto Symphony, The Grant Park Orchestra (Chicago), The Metropole Orchestra (Amsterdam) and The Orchestra de la Toscana (Florence). Stephen founded his own Orchestra, The Urban Soul Orchestra, over 16 years ago. His previous work with Il Divo includes The Promise album launch in Barcelona and live broadcast with the BBC Concert Orchestra 2008".

Urban Soul, Human Planet - Stephen Hussey and Nitin Sawhney collaborate for major BBC One series.

"Violinist, arranger and conductor Stephen Hussey, leader of the Urban Soul Orchestra, recently continued his close working relationship with Nitin Sawhney, score-editing and conducting for Human Planet, an ambitious natural history series which is to be shown on BBC One this Autumn.

Sawhney is renowned for drawing on a multitude of cultural and musical influneces, and his unique sound will add an extra dimension to the series, which explores man's relationship with nature in the most extreme environments on Earth.

A Busy Soul

Stephen conducted Il Divo's festive tour of 2009, Celebrate Christmas With..., and his upcoming work includes a return trip to New Zealand, accompanied by Urban Soul Orchestra members Oakki Lau and Kwesi Edman, on the invitation of the British Council. This return visit will include concerts, educational workshops and collaborations with local artists.

As if that wasn't enough, Stephen is also slated to work with acclaimed film composer Erran Baron-Cohen".
